Desi is the umbrella term South Asian creators use for themselves — India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the diaspora in Britain, Canada, the Gulf and the United States. It is a self-description, which is precisely why we use it: creators in this niche reach for "desi" in their own bios far more often than for any of the national labels, and the search volume follows them.

The category spans several religions and no single style. Plenty of creators here are also listed under muslim or hijab; plenty are not, and nothing about appearing on this page implies anything about anyone's faith. If you want the narrower national cut, pakistani is the one people search for most.

The British and Canadian diaspora accounts are the most established, often several years old, with the steady posting schedule that comes from treating the account as a business.
